The Brillion Lions will take on the New Holstein Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Brillion will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Brillion's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Sheboygan Falls as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Brillion let Amaya Brooks and Jana O'Connell run wild. Brooks went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while O'Connell went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases O'Connell has posted since back in May of 2024. Emma Schuh was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Brillion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheboygan Falls only posted an OBP of .250.
New Holstein let Kiel stack five runs on them in the fourth inning on Saturday but luckily New Holstein prevailed anyway. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Raiders 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Makya Pendleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Horn, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Manderscheid, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
The win got New Holstein back to even at 4-4. As for Brillion, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brillion has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like New Holstein struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brillion suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to New Holstein in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
