The Mt. Pleasant Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They secured a 56-52 W over Loretto. This was a revenge match for Mt. Pleasant, as the team was forced to settle for a 57-44 defeat when these two played two weeks ago.
Mt. Pleasant's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Benderman, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Benderman has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. Jakyri McClure was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 18-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Loretto, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will challenge Summertown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pleasant knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Summertown likes a good challenge. As for Loretto, they will head out on the road to take on Richland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richland will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Loretto surely won't give up without a fight.
