With a playoff game on the line, the McDowell Trojans rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Little Lions 47-20 at home. The result was nothing new for McDowell, who have now won seven contests by 26 points or more so far this season.
Dominic Berarducci was on fire: he rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Berarducci was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. Another player making a difference was Blayze Myers, who rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns.
State College's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eddie Corkery, who threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Brushwood, who picked up 71 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
McDowell has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 8-4 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.8 points per game. As for State College, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
McDowell will head out on the road to face off against North Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Allegheny's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. State College does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
