There's no place like home for Vel Phillips Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Madison West Regents 9-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Caleb Liggon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Liggon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Vel Phillips Memorial pushed their record up to 17-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Madison West, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-16.

Coming up, Vel Phillips Memorial will square off against Monona Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Madison West, they will challenge Verona at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
