The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 71-50 loss to Northwestern might stick with them for a while. York has not had much luck with Northwestern recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Brenden Lacroix and Jaxon Wilkins-Graham certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Lacroix scored 14 points, while Wilkins-Graham scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilkins-Graham has scored all season.
Mason Mitchell was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Northwestern. Mitchell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kevin Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
York has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Northwestern, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. on January 19th. Lancaster presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than York in South Carolina (Lancaster is ranked 22nd, while York is ranked 180th). As for Northwestern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Pointe at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
