The Ridgway Demons had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Telluride 26-23. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Ridgway has scored all year.
Ridgway's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Berwanger led the charge by scoring ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berwanger has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elle Borsari, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Telluride still got an impressive performance from Emma Reggiannini, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. Reggiannini is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played.
Ridgway's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6. As for Telluride, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgway will take on the Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Telluride, they will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
