For the first time this season, Mark Keppel will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Alhambra Moors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Mark Keppel put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 18-13.
Mark Keppel got a massive performance out of Destiny Valenzuela, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Janelle Fernandez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Mark Keppel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, while Alhambra put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Westridge. The Moors put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 18-0 win. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Moors yet this season.
Jayla Wagner made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
In other pitching news, Glorianne Nieto looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Amari Antunez was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerin Crespo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mark Keppel's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Alhambra, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mark Keppel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Alhambra struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Mark Keppel's way against Alhambra in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Mark Keppel made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Aztecs repeat their success, or do the Moors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
