Basketball Recap: Maret Piles Up the Points Against St. John's Catholic Prep

There's no place like home for Maret, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings 72-42 on Tuesday. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for the Frogs this season.

Maret's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kennedy Austin, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten boards, and 11 assists. What's more, Austin also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was London Liley, who went 8 of 17 en route to 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Austin wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Maret was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

St. John's Catholic Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Bolduc, who posted 18 points. Bolduc is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Samantha Shively was another key player, putting up ten points along with eight boards and three steals.

Maret's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Maret didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-29 win against Connelly School of the Holy Child on the 12th. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-24 loss against Concordia Prep on the 13th.
