Basketball Recap: Eagle Valley Beats Grand Junction for Their Fourth Straight Win

Eagle Valley had won three straight games and Dylan Zoller did his part to make it four on Friday. The Eagle Valley Devils came out on top against the Grand Junction Tigers by a score of 65-58 thanks in part to Zoller, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Brian Fontana was another key player, putting up 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played.

Grand Junction's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Edison Dean, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Those 19 points gave Dean a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Lewis, who posted 12 points.

Eagle Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Grand Junction, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Eagle Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 81-68 victory against Moffat County on the 21st. After both having extra time off, Grand Junction and Heritage will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Heritage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
