The Rabun County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeview Academy. While losing is never fun, Rabun County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Lakeview Academy is ranked 93rd).
Despite the defeat, Rabun County saw an underclassman step up: Hayes Free dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jack Hood, who scored 11 points.
Rabun County's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Lakeview Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Rabun County will head out on the road to face off against Stephens County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeview Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Oglethorpe County at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
