The Middleton Vikings will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Meridian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Middleton has 14 straight wins, Meridian has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Middleton put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Kuna on the road to the tune of 57-28. Given Middleton's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Kuna is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Middleton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zoey Blackwell, who scored nine points along with five steals, and Olivia Blackwell, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Blackwell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Robynn Flowers was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Meridian came up short against Centennial on Monday and fell 45-37.
Middleton pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Middleton beat Meridian 50-40 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Does Middleton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Meridian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
