Basketball Recap: Lansing's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lansing had to endure a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Turner Golden Bears on Tuesday as the Lansing Lions made off with a 76-56 victory. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Golden Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyland Mcgee, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Mcgee is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Follick, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Lansing's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Turner, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lansing Lions take on the De Soto Wildcats on Friday. As for Turner, they and Basehor-Linwood will face off at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
