Angelene Gonzales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.
In other batting news, Anissa Zavala was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Munoz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Florin got the win against Valley on Tuesday by a conclusive 24-8.
Johnson's record is now 13-9. As for Florin, their record now sits at 5-6.
Johnson got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Florin by a conclusive 20-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
