The Hampton Hawks will square off against the Dorchester Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Hampton and 27 for Dorchester.
Last Saturday, Hampton ended up a good deal behind Bruning-Davenport/Shickley and lost 41-25.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Grant Ferguson, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bullis, who scored four points.
Dorchester suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 59-22 loss at the hands of Shelby-Rising City. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Dorchester has suffered against Shelby-Rising City since January 23, 2020.
Hampton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Dorchester, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
Hampton skirted past Dorchester 33-31 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hampton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
