Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Simmons Blue Devils, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 22-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tartars on Friday. Simmons' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Simmons lost, one person who can't be blamed is Prentavis Madison. Despite the final result, he rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Taylorsville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laza Beavers led the charge by throwing for 170 yards and three touchdowns.
Simmons' loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Taylorsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Simmons does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Taylorsville is on the road again on Friday and play against Velma Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. One thing working in Velma Jackson's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
