Baseball Recap: Falcon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mitchell

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Falcon). They never let the Mitchell Marauders get on the board and left with a 22-0 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Carter Cox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Cox was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Jaxon Schleper was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Ethan Gentz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Falcon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Falcon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Falcon beat the Marauders by a score of 21-2 later that day.
