Basketball Recap: Corydon Central Skates Past Scottsburg with Ease

While Corydon Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by the Scottsburg Warriors to the tune of 62-33 on Friday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Warriors are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Corydon Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devon Murphy out in front who went 8 for 15 on his way to 20 points and three steals. That's the most steals Murphy has posted since back in December of 2023. Grant Lindemann was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points and six assists.

Corydon Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Corydon Central pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.3 points. As for Scottsburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Corydon Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-57 win against Jasper on the 21st. As for Scottsburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-45 defeat against Evansville Memorial on the 21st.
