Even though the Capital Prep Harbor Sharks scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, the Newark Collegiate Academy Panthers still came out on top. Newark Collegiate Academy managed a 65-61 win over Capital Prep Harbor. Newark Collegiate Academy's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Several Sharks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Henderson, who scored 19 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. Henderson hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Williams, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds.
Newark Collegiate Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Capital Prep Harbor, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.
Newark Collegiate Academy will be playing at home against Orange at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Newark Collegiate Academy is ranked 29th). Capital Prep Harbor will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Varsity Opponent has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 444 points over their last six matches.
