Basketball Recap: Matthew Jimenez and Jesus Leano Secure Win for West Covina

West Covina won the last time they faced Northview and things went their way on Thursday too. The West Covina Bulldogs secured a 49-45 W over the Northview Vikings. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

West Covina was led to victory by Jesus Leano and Matthew Jimenez. Leano dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jimenez went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points. What's more, Jimenez also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Jose Moreno was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

West Covina pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Northview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

West Covina will challenge Covina at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Covina is facing Covina at the right time seeing as Covina is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Northview, they will square off against Charter Oak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: Charter Oak will have lost ten straight heading into Tuesday's game.
