It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Waterloo had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cahokia Comanches with a sharp 15-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.
Aidan Dintelman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Waterloo got a big performance out of Haley Tomanovich, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Tomanovich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tess Nobbe, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Waterloo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Waterloo's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cahokia, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Waterloo has already played their next matchup, a 6-2 victory against Mt. Vernon on the 22nd. Cahokia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
