If the Worthing Colts were riding high off their 66-14 takedown of the Furr Brahmans back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Worthing ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-48 walloping at the hands of Washington on Monday. Worthing was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Washington apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Washington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danaya Pope, who scored 35 points. Those 35 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Shaniece Powell, who scored 21 points.
Worthing's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9-1. As for Washington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Worthing will head out on the road to face off against Yates at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Yates has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Washington will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Scarborough at 10:00 a.m. on January 13th. Scarborough comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
