The Aquinas Fightin' Irish's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Washington-Wilkes 42-38. Aquinas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Washington-Wilkes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Aquinas' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elle Morris, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals, and Emma Kate Noegel who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals. Noegel hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games.
Aquinas dropped their record down to 9-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Washington-Wilkes, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.
Aquinas and Greene County will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Greene County will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Aquinas surely won't give up without a fight. As for Washington-Wilkes, they will head out on the road to challenge Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington-Wilkes is facing Lincoln County at the right time seeing as Lincoln County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
