Baseball Game Preview: Picayune Maroon Tide vs. West Harrison Hurricanes

For the second straight game, Picayune will face off against West Harrison. Picayune will host West Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Picayune's favor as the squad sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while West Harrison has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

If Picayune beats West Harrison with six runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Picayune never let West Harrison get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. The Maroon Tide might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Kendall Blevins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cooper Moreaux was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Parker Helton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Picayune was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Picayune has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. West Harrison now has a losing record of 8-9.

Both Picayune and West Harrison just can't seem to miss. Picayune has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like West Harrison struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits.
