Colton is a perfect 3-0 against Eisenhower since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Colton sitting on seven straight wins and Eisenhower on five.
Colton barely beat San Gorgonio the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Spartans on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
ANDREA VARELA was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on STEPHANIE DELACRUZ, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was ALYSSA RAMIREZ, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Colton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower got the win against Notre Dame on Friday by a conclusive 12-2.
Milani Paige was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Hamner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Colton pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Eisenhower, their record now sits at 7-1.
Eisenhower's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Colton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Eisenhower, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Colton keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Colton skirted past Eisenhower 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
