The Avalon Black Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-51 defeat to they. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 222nd in Maryland, while DC International is ranked 28th in District of Columbia).
DC International was led to victory by Jordan Mason and Gavin Moore. Mason scored 15 points, while Moore scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damani Gross, who scored six points.
Avalon's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for DC International, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
Avalon is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Barrie at 4:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for DC International, they will be playing at home against Washington Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
