Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vernon Hills). They walked away with a 60-51 victory over the Grant Community Bulldogs on Monday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vernon Hills has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Grant Community, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Vernon Hills will head out to face off against Maine East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grant Community, they will welcome Antioch at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
