The Ridgeview Panthers will head out to take on the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ridgeview's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Fleming Island's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ridgeview is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 17, 2025 on Tuesday. They came up short against Oakleaf, falling 10-1. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Panthers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Ridgeview got a good showing from Chance Crawford, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Ridgeview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Alvarez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
While Fleming Island didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out First Coast 5-3.
The team relied heavily on Caden Swartz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Purvis, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Fleming Island's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Ridgeview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Ridgeview came out on top in a nail-biter against Fleming Island when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
