The timing is sure in Mercer Christian Academy's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Greater Beckley Christian has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Even though Mercer Christian Academy has not done well against Mountain Mission recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mercer Christian Academy came out on top against Mountain Mission by a score of 58-45. Given Mercer Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 42nd in West Virginia, while Mountain Mission is ranked 222nd in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mercer Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trump, who scored 19 points along with three steals and three blocks. Trump is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Bailee Martin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Greater Beckley Christian ended up a good deal behind Victory Baptist Academy on Monday and lost 53-35.
Mercer Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Greater Beckley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
