Dade Christian has won five straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Coral Shores has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Dade Christian will welcome Coral Shores at 2:00 p.m. Dade Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Last Saturday, Dade Christian came up short against Key West and fell 8-3.
Alexander Mendoza Jr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Wander Tifa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Coral Shores made easy work of Westminster Academy on Friday and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Hurricanes have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Campbell Lavoie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, AJ Putetti was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Clark, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Coral Shores was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.
Coral Shores' win bumped their record up to 14-1-1. As for Dade Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dade Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Coral Shores struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
