Windham has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Waterford Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Windham will be strutting in after a win while Waterford will be coming in after a defeat.
Windham scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tourtellotte 82-20 at home. Windham has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Jaelize Rivera and Aniya Jenkins were among the main playmakers for Windham as the former scored 17 points along with seven assists and four steals and the latter went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Lebiszczak, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Waterford was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 42-36 to Fitch. While losing is never fun, Waterford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Fitch is ranked 32nd).
Windham pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Waterford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Windham came up short against Waterford in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, falling 48-42. Can Windham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
