The Founders Christian Falcons entered their tilt with the Calvary Baptist Eagles with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Founders Christian was the clear victor by a 66-41 margin over the Eagles. Founders Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Founders Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cody Baker led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Baker hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Joseph Morales, who scored 18 points along with seven assists.
Calvary Baptist's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Guisler, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Cannon Hargrave was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Founders Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. As for Calvary Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Founders Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. The Covenant Preparatory School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully the Falcons like a good challenge. As for Calvary Baptist, they will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Briarwood is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
