The South Spencer Rebels pushed their score all the way to 33 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Springs Valley by a score of 36-33. South Spencer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, South Spencer still got an impressive performance from Ty Brown, who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 32 yards and two touchdowns.
South Spencer's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.5 points per game. As for Springs Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
South Spencer will look to defend their home field on Friday against Springs Valley at 7:30 p.m. Springs Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully South Spencer likes a good challenge. Springs Valley is on the road again and play against South Spencer at 7:30 p.m. on October 20th.
