Phillips' loss came despite strong showings from Lawrence Horton and Amari Edwards. Horton scored 24 points along with 9 rebounds, while Edwards scored 20 points along with 3 steals. Edwards scored a full 29.9% of Phillips' points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAndre Addison, who scored 8 points.
Phillips' loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Simeon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.
Phillips will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Curie at 5:00 p.m. As for Simeon, they will head out on the road to face off against Dyett at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dyett presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Simeon in Illinois (Dyett is ranked 83rd, while Simeon is ranked 299th).
