The Berlin Redcoats won the last time they faced the Maloney Spartans, and things went their way on Friday too. Berlin enjoyed a cozy 39-20 victory over the Spartans. Given Berlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Spartans are ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Emma Ellison, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelynn Sadowski, who scored two points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Berlin has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Maloney, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Berlin's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Lancers at 6:45 p.m. on February 5th. Maloney's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th.
