It was a good run, but the Shenendehowa Plainsmen unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Christian Brothers Academy by a score of 18-15. Shenendehowa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Christian Brothers Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October.
Despite the loss, Shenendehowa had strong showings from Anthony Diaz, who gained 145 total yards, and Blake Mello, who rushed for 13 yards and two touchdowns.
Shenendehowa's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Christian Brothers Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Shenendehowa will square off against Carmel at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Carmel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Shenendehowa is ranked eighth). As for Christian Brothers Academy, they will face off against Middletown at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Middletown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Christian Brothers Academy likes a good challenge.
