After losing to the Lordsburg Mavericks the last time they met, the Animas Panthers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Animas came out on top against Lordsburg by a score of 41-32 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Animas.
Laikyn Davenport was a one-man wrecking crew for Animas as she scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davenport has scored all season. Journey Sheehan was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
Animas pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Lordsburg, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Animas will take on Cliff at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cliff will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Lordsburg, they will be playing at home against Capitan at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Capitan is ranked 106th, while Lordsburg is ranked 94th).
