The Lone Peak Knights posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Syracuse with a sharp 73-49 win. With Lone Peak ahead 42-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Chamberlain Burgess was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-5 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Thomsen Kramer, who scored 15 points along with six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Syracuse lost, one person who can't be blamed is Terik Hamblin. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Hamblin hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. Joshua Godfrey was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The victory got Lone Peak back to even at 6-6. As for Syracuse, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.
Lone Peak will head out on the road to take on Pleasant Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Lone Peak likes a good challenge. As for Syracuse, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Layton at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Layton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Syracuse in Utah (Layton is ranked fifth, while Syracuse is ranked 51st).
