The Scholars Guild Academy Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hills Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Scholars Guild Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah McIlvain, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Rumble, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Leading Hills Academy to victory were Adrian Campbell and Micah Pugh. Campbell scored 17 points, while Pugh scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Ralph Doomes III, who scored nine points.
Scholars Guild Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Hills Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scholars Guild Academy will take on Fideles Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Fideles Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 808 points over their last 12 games. As for Hills Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
