It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Norwich Free Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens, sneaking past 56-53. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.
Mohammad Kulaib and Ibrahim Sidik certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kulaib went 8-for-14 on his way to 19 points along with six steals and five boards, while Sidik dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kulaib has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Warlin Franco, who posted three points.
Norwich Free Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points over those games. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they moved to 22-2 with that defeat, which also ended their 21-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Norwich Free Academy will head out on the road to take on New London at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of Science and Innovation does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
