Weeki Wachee hasn't had much luck against Springstead recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Weeki Wachee will be playing in front of their home fans against Springstead at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Weeki Wachee is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Anclote an 18-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won four in a row.
Bre Slater made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Weeki Wachee let Abi Pyle and Reegan Miller run wild. Pyle scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-1, while Miller scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave Pyle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Becker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Weeki Wachee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anclote only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Springstead entered their tilt with Nature Coast Tech on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Sharks.
ALIVIA MILLER was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
MILLER wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was RACHEL RIVERA, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Springstead pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Weeki Wachee, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Weeki Wachee suffered a grim 21-3 defeat to Springstead when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Weeki Wachee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
