Softball Recap: Delta Charter Comes Up Short

Delta Charter dropped down to 5-6 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats, falling 19-2. The Dragons were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but the Bobcats' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

For Ben Holt College Prep Academy's part, Gabriella Rojas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Rojas was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adryana Young, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Janae Ignacio, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Delta Charter is taking a road trip to face off against Elliot Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, they will challenge Monterey Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
