The Providence Christian Academy LIONS will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the River Ridge Royal Knights at 11:20 a.m. on December 27th. Providence Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 111th in Tennessee, while River Ridge is ranked 24th in Florida).
Last Friday, Providence Christian Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 1-0 to Antioch. That was the first shutout Providence Christian Academy has experienced all year.
Meanwhile, River Ridge came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 54-15 win over Zephyrhills at home. Considering River Ridge has won six matchups by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Zaree Nichols and Lauren Lee were among the main playmakers for River Ridge as the former scored 17 points along with three steals and the latter scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Lee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JP Ferguson, who scored no points along with six assists and four steals.
Providence Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
