The Riverdale Raiders were the 13-9 winner over the North Fort Myers Red Knights when they last played one another back in September of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Riverdale fell just short of North Fort Myers by a score of 24-22. Riverdale has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Riverdale's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Hayes, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lovensky Blanchard, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Andre Costa went supernova for North Fort Myers, rushing for 155 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 66 receiving yards. Costa was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 66 yards. Virgil Maloy was another key contributor, rushing for 134 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to North Fort Myers' defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Jordan Carr and his two sacks.
Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for North Fort Myers, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.
Riverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. North Fort Myers also has no future games currently scheduled.
