Baseball Recap: Advance Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Advance lost to Leopold back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cole Curtis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jameson Hamlin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Advance: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Drew Welch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Advance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Advance's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Leopold, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Advance will take on Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Leopold, they will face off against Malden at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
