Baseball Recap: Warren County Tech Sets Scoring Season-High Against Veritas Christian Academy

Warren County Tech extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against Veritas Christian Academy, falling 16-10. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Knights' highest-scoring game to date.

As for Veritas Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the match before.

For Veritas Christian Academy's part, Bobby Meara made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meara was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Meara is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Walker Van Der Ploog was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Healy, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Warren County Tech will head out on the road to square off against Lincoln Leadership Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Belvidere at 4:00 p.m. on the 13th.
