The Christian Academy-Louisville Centurions will square off against the Atherton Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Spencer County hit Christian Academy-Louisville with a seven-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Centurions lost 13-7 to the Bears.
Christian Academy-Louisville got a good showing from Nathan Durston, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Durston has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cameron Combs made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Jackson Burke was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Atherton was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against Larue County, falling 18-2. The Ravens haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Atherton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah House, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.
Christian Academy-Louisville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-11 record this season. As for Atherton, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Christian Academy-Louisville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Atherton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Christian Academy-Louisville took their win against Atherton in their previous matchup back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 19-9 score. Do the Centurions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ravens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
