Everything went Weldon's way against Columbia on Saturday as they made off with a 32-6 victory. Weldon were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Weldon's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 24 first-half points. Meanwhile, Columbia couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 24-0 heading into the break. The Weldon defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the game. The win bumped Weldon's record up to 3-2. Columbia are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-5.
Next week Weldon take on North Edgecombe at 7:00 PM. Unlike Weldon, North Edgecombe will be limping in after taking a loss. Columbia will take on Bear Grass Charter at home at 7:00 PM in two weeks.
