The Brookfield Warriors were the 75-41 winner over the Hubbard Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Brookfield fell just short of Hubbard by a score of 51-48. Brookfield found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Brookfield still got an impressive performance from Matteo Fortuna, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds. Brandon Hardman was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Hubbard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braydon Songer led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Rybicki, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Brookfield's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-1. As for Hubbard, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield will take on McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McKinley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brookfield in Ohio (McKinley is ranked 166th, while Brookfield is ranked 344th). As for Hubbard, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mineral Ridge at 7:00 p.m.
