On Saturday, the Peninsula Catholic Knights faced the Woodside Wolverines in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Peninsula Catholic took down the Wolverines 68-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Peninsula Catholic.
Peninsula Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was EJ Joyner out in front who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Jaylen Wynn was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Peninsula Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Woodside, their loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peninsula Catholic will play host again and welcome the Dolphins, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Henry Collegiate is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Woodside, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warwick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Wolverines are ranked 14th).
