The Chapin Huskies will take on the Canutillo Eagles at 6:40 p.m. on Friday. Chapin is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Chapin had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Tuesday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Silver Foxes.
While Chapin might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Jefferson scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-19, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Canutillo didn't have quite enough to beat Burges on Tuesday and fell 3-2. The Eagles have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Canutillo actually scored more points across those five sets (101-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 8-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-11.
Chapin will have to contain Sophia Ontiveros as she made an impact in Canutillo's last game. She had 15 digs, two aces, and one block. Ontiveros has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 26 times she's played.
Canutillo's defeat dropped their record down to 17-15. As for Chapin, their win bumped their record up to 24-7.
Chapin skirted past Canutillo 3-2 in their previous meeting back in September. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
